Reading of the first book of Kings (1 R 17, 1-6)

In those days, the prophet Elijah from Tishbe in Gilead said to king Acab, “By the Lord who is alive, by the God of Israel of whom I am the servant, for many years there will be no dew or rain, unless I order it. The word of the Lord came to him, “Go from here, go east, and hide near the stream of Kerith,
which flows into the Jordan. You will drink in the torrent, and I order the crows to bring you your food. The prophet did what the Lord told him, and went to settle near the stream of Kerith, which flows into the Jordan. The crows brought him bread and meat, morning and evening, and the prophet drank in the torrent.
