Meditation of Father G. R. Bidzogo sac (Mt 5, 33-37)

Let your “yes” be “yes”!
Are we still honest men and women? As a state agent, magistrate, teacher, doctor, nurse, nurse? Priest, religious, are not your honesty, your loyalty and your sincerity challenged in front of scenes of corruption and false testimony?
Jesus tells us not to swear at all by invoking the most holy name of God (Leviticus 19:12) because if we really accept God with all our heart, then we must abandon the false lifestyle of witnessing according to the men’s moods, according to whether our advantages and our interests: thus children lie to their parents, spouses are wrong among themselves, many lie to their friends, lawyers, judges, magistrates of false verdicts, neighbors, brothers and sisters give false testimony in court. And yet the book of Proverbs tells us that : “A faithful witness does not lie. But a false witness speaks a lie ”(Proverbs 14: 5) our conscience speaks to us.
Each of us as Christians must in all conscience recognize that: God is omniscient, he knows everything and he sees everything. Our God is just (Hebrews 10:30) and his judgment on all our actions will soon happen especially when we lie, abuse others all by pronouncing his Holy Name (Exodus 20: 7).
Let’s reject lies and duplicity. Rather, we seek holiness through a normal, honest, sincere, and true life because we are all members of one body (Ephesians 4:25). Let’s read the Book of Proverbs 6: 16-19 – Six things that the Lord hates… and even seven that he hates… the lying language… the false witnesses who tell lies… ”… As for you, yes Yes !
