Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew (Mt 5, 1-12)

At that time, seeing the crowds, Jesus climbed the mountain. He sat down, and his disciples approached him. So, opening his mouth, he was teaching them. He said: “Blessed are the poor in heart, for the kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Happy are those who weep because they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for justice, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy. Blessed are pure hearts, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for justice,
for the kingdom of Heaven is theirs. Blessed are you if you are insulted, if you are persecuted and if you falsely say all kinds of evil against you, because of me.
Rejoice, rejoice, for your reward is great in heaven!
This is how the prophets who came before you were persecuted. “
